Turf Göteborg
What's new?
League & Group in player profiles
Tapping on any player now shows their current league and group (e.g. "League 5-21") in the profile dialog.
GPS reliability improvements
Several fixes for GPS-related issues, particularly on devices that struggled to complete zone takeovers:
Fixed a bug affecting certain Android devices (including some Huawei models) where zones could not be taken due to incorrect GPS timestamps
The takeover meter now waits for a reliable GPS signal before completing, and shows a visual indicator while waiting instead of failing silently
Fixed a bug where the zone-taking notification sound played repeatedly while the app was waiting for GPS
Improved GPS accuracy filtering at startup to reduce position jumping during the first few seconds of a session
Settings
App version and build date are now shown at the bottom of the Settings screen.
The bug with crowns and hats that were kept for too long is now fixed. sorry guys:)

In a short while, armpitting will cease to exist as we know it.
All thanks to a technical solution that will confirm positions in a new way in zones. This has been tested for a while as Android Beta without any reported problems.
This new version will require us to force all users to update your turf apps. A message will be displayed in the app if you need to update.
Turf Insider is a monthly newsletter written and edited by Munin
Technical issues prevented the sending of the monthly mail to users during February. You can always read Turf Insider on Turf's homepage.

A Zone Worthy of a Detour – by Cissiliana
SandISibirien is a zone I often return to. Despite the name, it is located in Skåne and despite Skåne, the environment most closely resembles a Mediterranean beach. What otherwise stands out is that horses come here to bathe, which is a fun and lovely sight. I have seen both horse and carriage teams and riders. The zone is also next to the monument zone UFOMonumentet for the alien-interested and the beautiful forest to the north, Kronoskogen, which is a favorite place for a bike ride. Continue along the entire coast along the Kattegattleden cycle path. Northwards it takes you all the way to Gothenburg and southwards to Helsingborg, both directions via beautiful peninsulas.

Thank you Cissiliana for you contribution! If you have your own special zone you'd like to tell the Turf World about, send a paragraph or two about it to insider@turfgame.com and let the Turf community learn more about it!
Server Hickups
February saw several server hickups affecting take overs and one even shut down the app for over 12 hours. Smaller hickups where event zones are showing up in the normal app have also occured. No one wants these interruptions, but they are a sign that Turf is evolving and a big thanks to everyone that reported these ”hickups” via the issue system. It lets the developers know about the problem and also gives important clues to what might be the root cause.
Did you know...
...that Warded has had another make over? Check it out HERE.
Editor's Opinion
Turf Goals...we all have them. It can be everything from just taking one zone during a round in order to get Turf Insider sent to you (if you have agreed to have e-mail sent to you) to winning Gold. Goals change with time. When I started I wanted to take at least one unique zone every time I went for a session...this became quite hard pretty fast when I could be on my bike out turfing four times a day! It changed to at least 50 unique zones per round and then to 50 unique zones per round in average during a year (allowing me fewer uniques in winter).
Even before the Daily medal, I wanted to take at least 5 zones when I was out turfing, to get a session on Warded :) Painting zones purple in Warded (zones are coloured purple on the map in Warded when you have taken them 51 times or more) is another goal I am working on most of the time (I am less enthusiastic about this if it's raining). Some people collect a certain kind of zones (water, Monument, Holy – my fave is winner zones!) and others want to take Assist with as many different turfers as possible (a top list TheCat is crushing). There is something for everyone in Turf, and you can also choose different goals depending on how you feel during a certain point in your life.

There is currently an issue with zone takes, where the map in the app and on the homepage isn’t updated when a zone is taken over. It shows the owners as they were Saturday afternoon. On the homepage, you will see the current owner if you click on the zone.
But the game still runs, you can still turf, but somewhat blindfolded. You can see the actual owners and take times if you click on a zone on the home page map, or on some third party pages. To play in this scenario you must think of both zones that you may actually own (even if not shown in the app), the zone you want to take but also you can not take zones rightfully owned by someone else if the map shows you as the owner. The app trusts this and will not try to take it. Third, zones may be blocked, and this may also not show in the app. Whenever the server rejects a take if it for example is blocked or already yours, the green meter will go all the way up, but there will not be a takeover notification nor will the zone be striped. Please note that the meter reaching the top, doesn’t mean a takeover is made.
It is not known when this will be solved, nor if this will affect anything of the takeover history. As it looks right now, it is just a confusing display thing in the app but the full impact isn’t known until the issue is resolved.
